The associate editors of Central European History, Eli Rubin and Mike Sauter, are pleased to announce the free, online workshop “Kindertransport and W. G. Sebald: Historiography, Literature, and Place 25 Years On,” which will also serve to help prepare an upcoming special review issue of Central European History on the twinned legacy of the Kindertransport and the work of Sebald (especially his presence and life in northeastern England).
The workshop will take place on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 o.m. (EDT) . In addition to Rubin and Sauter, the participants include: Amy Williams (Association of Jewish Refugees), Maya Barzlai (University of Michigan), John Greenacre (University of Suffolk), and Mark Edwards (University of Suffolk). A preliminary version of the program is available here.
